EXPRESSIONS IN A SONG

Little Orange Fish and the  Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation are coming together in collaboration to explore Expressions in a Song, to share experiences showing the importance of music and how songs enhance our lives.

The event will be FREE to attend and will be used to help promote both Little Orange Fish Expressions for mental health and the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation scholarship program, involving Valley Conservatory and Musicology School of Music.

At the kickoff event Morgan Sloan will perform one song that YOU will pick from the following list:

1. Where Is My Mind – The Pixies
2. Nobody Knows You – Bessie Smith
3. Rooster – Alice in Chains
4. For What It’s Worth – Buffalo Springfield
5. The Way – Fastball
6. Pancho and Lefty – Willie Nelson
7. The Bends – Radiohead
8. Don’t Think Twice, It’s Alright – Bob Dylan
9. That’s the Way the World Goes Round – John Prine
10. House of the Rising Sun – The Animals

At the event, there will be open discussions around the song’s musical structure, lyrics, meaning, the band/musician’s history behind the song and the guest musician’s story related to the song. There will be an open mic opportunity for anyone to share their stories related to the song with social media comments read if needed to stimulate conversations. Guests can also do their own rendition of the song with provided instruments!

To voice your Expressions about your favorite song or songs on this list please comment on the related posts on the  Little Orange Fish and Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation Facebook pages. It is your comments that will determine the song to be performed and discussed on July 22, 2023 at Tangled String Studios.

Coming soon will be an event page with more details about how you can be part of the Expressions in a Song community partnership.

Little Orange Fish was founded to support the premise that every individual can benefit from and deserves access to quality mental health care.

The vision is that through research and education, better quality mental health care with a greater continuity of care can be made accessible to all. Realizing this vision will do much more than save lives by reducing acts of violence and self-harm. It will also greatly enhance the quality of life for the tens of millions in the US, and the hundreds of millions worldwide, who suffer in silence from a variety of emotional and mental health issues.

‘A strong community is built of healthy individuals
and good health starts with a healthy mind.’
